How much is your free time worth?

Ever wondered how much all that free labour you do for school would be worth if you were paid to do it? You know… the way almost everyone in almost every other job is?

Use our fun “free labour” calculator to figure out how much free labour you pump into the education system every year. (Rates are based on the incoming pay scales, and for Northern Ireland rates. Teachers in England are similar, but Scottish teachers earn significantly more.)

think1265 roars into life

The think1265 site finally met its public on Monday morning, and we received over a thousand new users in the first 24 hours. The mailing list is fast filling up; our petition is gathering pace, and teachers around NI are tuning in to learn about their rights.

The consistent feedback from users is how many teachers had no idea about the limits on what they can be asked to do, and to have their contractual obligations and TNC workload measures laid out and explained so clearly is an eye-opener.

Over the next few months we will work tirelessly to ensure that a culture of openness and cooperation builds in our schools so that teachers can – at last – reap the benefits of decades of progressive workload reduction agreements, while Principals can work alongside teachers to use the time budgets they have in the most impactful way possible for their school.
