How good is your DTB?

Answer these simple questions about your Directed Time Budget in order to assess what it does well, and what needs to be improved.

How easy is it to understand your DTB?

Have the 195 days been identified?

Has an annual schedule of meetings been provided, covering all the time you need to be available for work?

Has a minimum of 10% of your hours been ringfenced as PPA time?

Has all class contact time, including cover, registration activities, and teaching revision classes, been included?

Is your weekly class contact time no more than 23.5 hours post-primary, or 25 hours primary and special?

Have the non-teaching days been included?

Has time to complete the number of written reports to parents been included?

Has time for Performance Review, Staff Development, evidence collating and reporting been provided?

If you are a TA holder, has a list of duties with sufficient time to carry these out been included?

If you are SENCO is the time provided proportionate and appropriate to the needs of your school?

If you have significant marking responsibilities for coursework or controlled assessment, is sufficient time for this provided?

Have you been given more than 8 hours of contingency time?

Are there large blocks of undirected time, such as 'other professional duties' where the tasks you are given are unclear?

With the exception of PPA for lessons you choose to do yourself, is sufficient time given in your DTB to discharge the tasks asked of you withing your contracted hours?

Do you think due attention has been paid in your DTB to your work/life balance
